Employment Proposal
Unemployment in America is at its' worst since the Great Depression era back in the 1930's. And in times like today's econony, Americans can not afford to be laid off. It is hard enough to survive in the economy we have today with the jobs we have now, and being unemployed is just making it even harder to survive. President Obama is currently in the process of creating a proposal to create new jobs and opprotunities for employment to Congress next week. Many people are agreeing with Obama and pushing to have this proposal follow through. Obama stated friday at Lehigh Carbom Community College that, "We need to go jobs and get America back to work as quickly as we can." The quicker America can get back on its' feet, the quicker America will get out of this economic crisis we are in. It is a good thing Obama is taking action into helping America get back on top, but it is just going to take time before America fully recovers. America's unemployment rate has decreased 0.2 percent since October, as long as the rate continues to decrease America will be okay. As long as Obama's proposal gets passed by Congress this coming week, we should see the unemployment rate begin to get smaller hopefully pretty quickly. As mentioned before, it is going to just take time before America will be fully recovered.

Invasion of Privacy of Right of the Government?
In "Invasion of Privacy or Right of the Government?", a classmates blog, talks about how the United States Government admitted to conducting wiretapping on its' citizens in America. The government was really conducting warrant-less wiretapping to prevent terroristic and dangerous threats, and to listen in on suspicious individuals. But in all reality, conducting wiretapping without a warrant is against the law, and definitely an invasion of our privacy as United States citizens. Warrant-less Wiretapping does not follow the lines of the Fourth Amendment. The Fourth Amendment stats: "The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized." The government should not be allowed the right to do conduct these wiretappings without a warrant. We as citizens are protected from events such as these to occur because of the Fourth Amendment, so why should the government be able to have the right to conduct these wiretappings without a warrant since it is clearly stated unconstitutional?

Fort Hood Under attack
Thursday afternoon in Fort Hood, Texas (the largest active armored post), Maj Hasan a psychiatrist shot and killed twelve people and wounded thiry-one people. Officials say that Hasan was scheduled to be deployed to Iraq and was pretty upset about it. It's crazy to think that one of our men that are scheduled to go over and fight for our country would take down his own men, right before deployment. Hasan came to Federal Law Enforcement Officials attention six months ago posting suicide bombings and threats on the internet but say that they are still trying to figure out if he was the author of these postings. Hasan used two handguns to take down over forty people. Officials took two other soilders into custody but were released after questioning. " It's difficult enough when we lose these great Americans in battles overseas," Obama said at the Interior department. For this to happen is something that we would never expect or ask for anyone to go through and the fact that our soilders who were just about to fight for us got shot down by one of their own, who has helped many of them at bad times, it's just crazy. I expect and hope that Hasan gets the justice that he deserves.

Who Should LeBron James Dunk on Next?
In the article i read, "LeBron James: The Man Who Would Dunk on Dubya", the author disscuses on who LeBron should dunk on next. LeBron states, "If it doesn't have to be a basketball player, George W. Bush. I would dunk on his ass, break the rim, and shatter the glass." He wants to dunk on Bush because he supposidly is "the man spearheaded both a war based on lies and the near collapse of our economy." I disagree with that, becuase it's not Bush's fault our economy started declining. I'll have to agree with him needing to dunk on Jerry Jones, even though i am a cowboys fan. I think its stupid that he spent the money he did on a stadium and took $350 million of public money just for the stadium, when texas could have used that money for helping homeless or building community parks and rec centers. The authors attend audience in this article i feel are everyday people. He gives good examples on why the people he picked should be dunked on. It's ridiculous the way some of these people look at things and they should be dunked on for that reason.

Editorial: FBI did its job well in bomb case
In the editorial I found in The Dallas Morning News, is about how terrorism plots and threats are still a big threat in America today. A nineteen year old Jordanian, Hosam Maher Husein Smadi, would have been able to go through with his plot to blow up a sixty story skyscraper in Downtown Dallas last week, if it hadn't have been for undercover Arabic-speaking FBI agents who intercepted his plan to connect with a hook up on the Internet for resources to create his plan as stated in the article. These kind of threats make us wonder how easily is it to get past American officials, and be able to go through with these kind of plans? We as Americans need to get more engaged in stopping these kind of threats before they are attempted. The author stats, "The fact that this plot appears to have been exectuted by a lone wolf doesn't minimize the threat." By this he is saying that if a person alone can go through with a plot by themselves, how do we know that someone else isn't thousands miles away planning on doing the same thing? We need to do something about this and put an end to all threats made. We need to regulate who comes into the United States with better security so we can make sure terrorism like this will not occur.

Fight obesity? Add sales tax to soda tab
The article, Fight obesity? Add sales tax to soda tab, is about trying to get the United States government to propose a sales tax on soda and other sweetened beverages. Health experts are pushing for placing a tax of one cent for every ounce of soda and sweetened beverage, but proposals in the past have failed many of times before. The tax put on soda and other sweetened beverages would create revenue that could be used to focus on child nutrition and obesity prevent programs in the U.S., while helping people cut back on the amount of calories they consume from drinking sodas. The proposal was shut down Wednesday after the Senate Finance Committee addressed its health reform proposal without a previously considered soda tax provision. As of now, it will most likely be a while before the proposal will gain acceptance from officials. States will have to start taxing on the sales of sodas and sweetened beverages before the federal government will accept and make it a law. I think people should read this article and really take advantage of the pros of passing this proposal. People need to start understanding that obesity is a bigger problem than it may seem.
